The Birth of Simplicity: From Pain to Purpose

Foundation Scriptures

1st Peter 4:10 (NLT)

10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

1st Corinthians 12:28 (NLT)

28 Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:

first are apostles,
second are prophets,
third are teachers,
then those who do miracles,
those who have the gift of healing,
those who can help others,
those who have the gift of leadership,
those who speak in unknown languages.

Romans 12:8 (NLT)

If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

How did Simplicity come about you may ask, or maybe you’re not asking, but I’m still going to share it with you… At a young age I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician because of my own life circumstances (which we’ll get into at another time). I hated to see or hear about vulnerable people being taken advantage of because of their fear, ignorance or lack of protection. At the age of 15 I still had my mind set on being a pediatrician, little did I know that my perspective would be changing and I would be having a whole new approach to a burning passion.

When I got saved at 16 there was a lot of anger and bitterness that God had to work through. It was not easy, in fact it was extremely painful for me. But as God dealt with my pain and open (emotional) wounds, I found comfort and relief in helping others be successful in whatever goals they had set for themselves by equipping them with knowledge. Seeing others find joy in the revelation of the new information brought me joy. Knowing that I could help others the way God helped me changed my view on how I could help others avoid or decrease the probability of them being taken advantage of.

Early in my walk with God I discovered, with the help of those who ministered to me, that I had a gift of administration. Now, to be fair, administration in the form of organization was more of a coping mechanism for me, something I would run to in order to escape my reality. It was repetitive, comforting, and it was basically the only thing that I had full control over. So, how was the gift of administration so important that it made it to the list that includes Apostles, Prophets, and Teachers ? Well, administration keeps the wheels turning, it’s the center of execution, it’s an integral position that aids in bringing forth the vision from paper to reality.

Fast forward to my mid twenty’s, after years of practicing administration at my church and in different jobs, and also changing my educational path from pediatrician to a Bachelors in Business Administration, I decided to starting taking John Maxwell Leadership Development courses with Pastor Rudy Moseley. Here I learned how to become a better leader, encouragers and visionary. I learned how to use my gifts to problems, and thus Simplicity was born.

My first Simplicity contract was with Pastor Moseley. I had the professional experience through ministry and former employers, but never as a self employed entrepreneur. I was nervous and doubtful of my skills and the ability to produce satisfactory results, even though I had been doing administrative work for over ten years. I learned from the opportunity, refined my services and found ways to become better. Even now, I am still eternally grateful for the trust the Pastor Moseley had in me.

In the midst of the unbelief, God reminded me of Hebrews 12:11-13 (NLT)…

11 No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.13 Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.

Today, as I write to you this second blog while listening to worship, I’m seeing God’s perfect timing come to pass.

Signing off until next time, and remember…

Make it Simple!

P.S… I’d like to share some encouragement with you until we meet again ❤

  • Habakkuk 2:3 (NLT) … This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
  • Psalm 27:14 (NLT) … Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
  • Isaiah 60:22 (NLT) … The smallest family will become a thousand people, and the tiniest group will become a mighty nation. At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”
  • Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) … For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
